The promises are easy, the delivery is very hard. How about this dilemma ?
"Bureaucratic delays stem from mandates of U.S. land agencies, said Lew Milford of the Clean Energy States Alliance, which represents 20 states' renewable energy funds: "It's one of those tricky good-versus-good problems -- trying to move more renewable energy but in an environmentally friendly way."

I don't know about those bottlenecks but I sure hope that Vermonters erect some serious barriers to windmills on all of our ridgelines. I find this to be a terrible idea! But you start talking to Vermonters and clearly advocates of windmills in Vermont are doing a GREAT publicity job! For me, windmills will not look pretty on our Vermont ridglines. They will look terrible. And how much energy will they provide? I expect minimal compared to vast windmill farms in the special locations in the US where they will work best, especially if combined with solar energy panels. And thermal as well? Wow. Energy from wind, solar, and geo all from one contraption, in locations that no one has to see, and where those who love how these contraptions look can move out of Vermont and relocate there so they can enjoy the aesthetics of windmills. Hmm.
