Landline and last mile wireless are the apparent winners long term, particularly with the FCC's recent ruling not requiring the telcos to share their last mile fiber optics systems with competitors. Now the cable and telco guys are on a reasonably even basis at least from a regulatory perspective to compete for broadband Internet access.
