GMail Features

In the past few days, Google has inserted a feature into Gmail enabling "Open as a Google Document" option when a Microsoft Word document is attached. It neatly launches the attachment in Google Docs and Spreadsheets ready for reading, editing, tagging or saving (I have not yet tested whether the option exists for an Excel spreadsheet attachment).

This is a really cool feature for me since I've become a big user of Google Docs and Spreadsheets recently. It has almost all the features I would normally use in Microsoft Word and I have access wherever I happen to be with an Internet connection.

Google continues to link its myriad offerings in a way that is very compelling.
