Novel Strategy Pits Journalists Against Source - New York Times

The media and the legal eagles are not very comfortable with the Libby indictment, so it seems from this Times piece. When this case is tried, it will be a media circus because of the precedent it could set, plus the media's credibility or lack thereof will be on full display. Add to that the possibility that classified information may surface.

Now add the political ramifications and how the Left and the Right will try to spin the whole thing. One wonders if justice can be done, unless Libby pleads guilty and makes it disappear quickly. That's unlikely because of the significant penalties he would face.

Perhaps a trial is the best outcome for the Left as a runup to the 2008 elections.
