Nothing is secure in this life. The pension promise is only as good as the soundness of the company or public agency providing it.
Powerful forces are at work that jeopardize the future of our country:
Terrorism
Insecurity of pensions
Underfunded Social Security and Medicare
Out-of-control Health Care Costs
Energy Shortages
Education Mediocrity
Exploding Public and Private Debt
Rise of Asia as a Powerful Economic Engine
These and other forces are piling up rapidly. The 2008 Presidential campaign must take these head on. I'll be anxiously watching to see if either the Democrats or the Republicans offer realistic solutions. We cannot tax our way through these problems.
